Self / intimacy / power
May 21st, 7pm - 9pm
LongPlay, 318 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North, VIC, 3068
Sleepover Club acknowledges the Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the sovereign custodians of the land on which this event is held (Narrm Melbourne). We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging and we acknowledge the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples worldwide.
Readings and performances from Chi Tran, Daniel Ward, Frankie Hanman Siegersma, Ileini Kabalan and a skype reading from Aotearoa based collective Fresh and Fruity (Hana Pera Aoake and Mya Morrison-Middleton). Readers will explore the self, diaspora, intimacy, sexuality and power; among other things.
Prior to the readings, we’ll be holding a public discussion at 7pm. We’ll be introducing a residency we’ll be participating in during early 2018 facilitated by the ARC project, Women, Art and Feminism. Anyone who might be interested in participating in the residency alongside us is welcome to come along. We’re interested in forming our activities and research around the needs and concerns of a collaborative group.
Both the meeting and spoken word event will be Auslan interpreted. The Cinema Room is located up a small set of stairs through the main bar, email firstname.lastname@example.org for any accessibility enquiries.
